Susan Rodgers
Prince Edward Island, Canada's Susan Rodgers writes optimistic screenplays and novels, and directs and produces movies about forgiveness and hope. Her fifteen-book Drifters series has been optioned for TV. Her first feature film, Still The Water, was critically acclaimed. Susan's second book series is the basis of her next big feature film and TV projects.
Susan Rodgers is the writer, producer, and director of the feature film Still the Water (2021). It was selected for the highly lauded and competitive Whistler Film Festival where it was a finalist for the 2020 Borsos Awards for Best Canadian Feature. The film is a critically acclaimed adult drama highlighted by a powerful soundtrack featuring Atlantic Canadian singer-songwriters.
Music is an incredibly important part of all of Susan’s work – and her life. Her most recent project was produced in partnership with the National Film Board in their Reimagining the Islands program. Then Sings My Soul (2021) brings to life the poignant story of Prince Edward Island singer and part-time fisherman Chad Matthews, a hardworking father of four and a Stompin’ Tom Connors tribute artist.
Her connection to music is also evident in her work as an author. She was a Finalist in the Atlantic Writing Awards for her first novel A Certain Kind of Freedom. For her sophomore work, she wrote the Drifters book series. This 15-part series of books has sold in 20 countries around the world. Her fans even started a Facebook group to discuss and celebrate the books!

Currently, she is working on the feature scripts My Brooklyn Heart, a faith-based adoption story; Kristian’s Cross, a story about an aging bar-singer and his sons; and a holiday movie set in beautiful Prince Edward Island.
A Vancouver Film School graduate, Susan has participated in film-based trade missions to Los Angeles and Toronto.
